Inspire offers a first-of-its-kind monthly subscription for consumers to access 100 percent clean energy for their homes. Signing up online takes minutes, with no service interruptions or expensive installations. With Inspire’s subscription plan, members' monthly bill for clean energy supply never fluctuates — no matter how much electricity their home needs — even in the hot summer or cold winter months. Most importantly, members can rest easy knowing they’ve taken a big step to help the environment. In fact, one year of being an Inspire member can be more impactful than seven years of recycling. To date, Inspire and its members have successfully diverted over 5.6 billion pounds of CO2e from entering the atmosphere.
When customers choose a renewable energy plan with Inspire, 100 percent of their home’s electricity consumption is matched with renewable energy certificates (RECs) from clean energy sources like solar or wind. When one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy is generated, one REC is created to track it, ensuring it’s counted when added to the grid. By choosing a clean energy plan from Inspire, you’re ultimately driving increased demand for renewable energy and helping to decarbonize the power grid.
In addition to its clean electricity plans, Inspire offers a Clean Natural Gas plan, which matches 100 percent of a member’s residential natural gas usage with nature-based carbon offset projects that neutralize the emissions associated with consuming natural gas. This new product offering complements the company’s clean energy service, providing homes in select U.S. markets with a whole new home energy solution that positively impacts the planet.
Because climate change is a global issue, Inspire supports positive environmental and climate actions around the world. Through the company’s Brighter World Project in partnership with nonprofit GivePower, for every year someone is an Inspire member, Inspire will provide clean energy solutions to one person in critical need for one year. Additionally, Inspire is responsible for the construction of more than 50 microgrids being built to provide clean energy, water, and health care to over 80,000 individuals in need across Colombia, Kenya, and Nepal. Inspire also plans to donate more than $500,000 to GivePower over the next two years to extend the collective mission of transforming the energy landscape by improving access to clean energy around the globe.
In 2021, Inspire became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shell within its Renewable and Energy Solutions portfolio with the intent of accelerating the company’s mission to provide renewable energy access to everyone, everywhere.
